The Ilo project winner of the Global Startup Weekend Covid-19 Madagascar
An adventure, an entrepreneurial challenge that is coming to an end! The members of the Jury of the Covid-19 Global Startup Weekend have made their choice. The final ranking has been announced on April 26, 2020 on Facebook.
The Ilo project, a burnable essential oil project that can be transformed into incense, was the winner of the competition. The Mailo and the TafaBacc projects also stood out and came in second and third in the competition, winning various prizes.
These three best projects received different prizes such as training in finance, management, hygiene and health standards, the Adobe suite (graphic design and film). They will also benefit from an incubation in NextA, a startup accelerator, goodies and passes to entrepreneurial events.
The participants took up the big challenge: to set up an online project in 54 hours to fight against Covid-19. Not only did the Global Startup Weekend allow several participants to broaden their knowledge and experience, but it also allowed them to get in touch with several local entrepreneurs.
Tiavina Ranaivoson, participant and member of the MadaTreat project testifies:
“It has been a great adventure, hours of work that have been made up first of all by the gain of experience and new knowledge, but also by the many prizes for which we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
A great challenge for mentors and coaches
On the side of the mentors and coaches, the challenge was also great. Thanks to group discussions on Messenger and Facebook, they were able to guide each participant along the way. The Covid-19 pandemic did not make their task any easier, quite the contrary. They had to pull out their secret weapon, which is reactivity in the face of difficulties. Frequent offloading took effect during the online coaching sessions.
Noussyh Seheno Ranoarivony, personal development coach and also in entrepreneurship, underlined in her remarks the difficulties she encountered during the coaching and videoconference sessions. She also had to manage the situation and the tensions caused by stress among the participants.
The coaches had a great adventure and gained a lot more experience during this event which took place online.
For Irfan Aly Abasbay, coach during the Global Startup Weekend Covid-19 Online Madagascar testifies:
“The gestures add a plus in communication. Things that are difficult to convey “online” through the chats or messages we exchanged. However, it was a fabulous experience.”
A commendable initiative during periods of containment
As a reminder, the Global Startupweekend-Covid-19 online Madagascar is an entrepreneurial event organized by the young activists in charge of the Startup Weekend organization in Madagascar.
Within the framework of the confinement, the organization proposed to set up the event online, just for this time.
The idea is to create in team an online project in 54 hours. Participants submit projects, then voting starts, and the projects with the most votes are then developed in 54 hours. Coaches and mentors guide participants through the process.
