Very rapid spread of the virus
In just a few hours, Madagascar exceeds the 800 case mark. According to Professor Vololontiana’s announcement this Monday, June 1, 36 new cases have been confirmed positive for Covid-19. This brings to 826 the total number of positive cases registered in Madagascar since March 19, 2020.
Among these new cases, 22 are located in Toamasina, the city most affected by the epidemic, 7 in Moramanga, 2 in Ambatomirahavavy, 2 in Alakamisy Fenoarivo, 1 in Soavinandriana, 1 in Haute Matsiatra and 1 in Ambatovy.
In addition, the number of active cases stands at 646 while the patients cured are 6, bringing the total number of cures to 174. The number of deaths announced today is 6.
A good decision?
Despite the health crisis in Madagascar, the Malagasy Head of State, Andry Rajoelina, decided during his intervention in the national chain to lighten the confinement for the Analamanga region. The curfew is extended. Shops will now close at 3 p.m. instead of 1 p.m. In addition, the Antsinanana region will be completely closed.
Classes at Toamasina will be suspended from Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Faced with the current situation in the city, a medical team of 50 military doctors and nurses will be sent by the ministry of National defense to support the doctors on site and to support places intended for the reception of patients with Covid-19.
