Madagascar reaches 500 cases
39 people were confirmed positive for coronavirus this Sunday. Among these new cases, 20 are located in Toamasina, 10 in Antananarivo, 6 in Fort-Dauphin and 3 in Tuléar. As a result, the total number of confirmed positive cases stands at 527 cases for Madagascar, to date.
2 patients also present with a severe form of Toamasina bringing the total number of severe forms to 6. On the other hand, with the 4 new cures announced today, 142 coronavirus patients so far recovered. 383 active cases of Covid-19 are still being treated.
Faced with this, the deputy of Toamasina 1, Roland Ratsiraka requests the intervention of the government so that Toamasina is prioritized for the fight against the coronavirus. According to him, it is also urgent to find a solution to the lack of materials and equipment for hospitals and health personnel. Finally, it is to speed up the output of the Covid-19 screening test results.
In addition, the Pasteur Institute of Madagascar (IPM) and the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease are no longer the only ones to carry out virus screening tests. The molecular biology department of CHU JRA (Center Hospitalier Universitaire Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona) in Ampefiloha is now carrying out screening tests for Covid-19.
