Madagascar passes the 400 case mark
100 cases registered in less than 5 days. The health situation on the Big Island is deteriorating. In fact, 34 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 were announced on May 21, 2020 by Professor Hanta Vololontiana on the national TVM channel, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 405 since the start of the epidemic.
Among these new cases, 24 are located in Toamasina, and 10 in Moramanga. Antananarivo has no new cases for this day.
1 patient also presented a severe form, Toamasina, while no cure was noted.
An important increase in 4 days
As a reminder, Madagascar has crossed the 300 case mark and recorded its first death in Toamasina, this Sunday, May 17. A second death occurred the next day, in the same Province.
Despite this, the partial deconfinement continued on the Big Island, as announced by the President of the Republic, Andry Rajoelina, on Sunday evening, on the national channel. However, measures have been strengthened in the Analamanga, Haute Matsiatra and Antsiranana regions. The Alaotra Mangoro region has been added to these three regions.
On the other hand, the Head of State also insisted on the consumption of the traditional Covid-Organics remedy by the population. Recall that this remedy was launched by the President of the Republic, Andry Rajoelina, on April 21, at IMRA Itaosy.
The remedy has been claimed to be “curative” and has shown a “promising trend”, as Charles Andrianjara, Director General of IMRA, said.
